![]() ![]() ![]() Importing Images: With Fanatic Edition, you can easy import image files to your map using LUA. Remember: This works only if both players are using Fanatic Edition or another modified client with a simliar getfile function ( SJM, CMEd).įilesystem: Fanatic Edition is made to run next to your vanilla Sauerbraten SVN client and not to interfer with its file system if you want to use your personal auth.cfg or autoexec.cfg with Fanatic Edition, you need to rename them to faned_auth.cfg / faned_autoexec.cfg, otherwise Fanatic Edition will ignore these files. Other players without Fanatic Edition who may try to get your file using the default getmap command will get the default could not read map error instead of your file. sendfile is not limited to map or configs files you can share everything you want with it as long as the server is supporting it's file size. ![]() After that, your friend needs to run the command getfile packages/base/mymap.cfg to save it and exec packages/base/mymap.cfg to execute the config file. Run the command sendfile packages/base/mymap.cfg your config file will now be sent to the server. Same like installing, but remember to delete your configuration file faned_config.cfg an outdated config file may result in errors.įilesharing: The Fanatic Edition sendfile function allows you to send and share - for example - a mymap.cfg for your map mymap.ogz. On linux, run faned.sh, on windows, run faned.bat, to fire up the game. Unzip and copy everythig into your fresh created Sauerbraten directory on linux, place faned_client into your bin_unix/ directory, on windows, place faned_client.exe into your bin/ directory. ★ New special effects, playermodels and weapon enhancementsĭownload the latest Cube 2: Sauerbraten SVN repository here or here.ĭownload the latest Fanatic Edition development release here If you want to live on the bleeding edge of our development, feel free to try out our client and/or report bugs at our IRC channel. The project itself is currently in alpha state and bugs/fixes appear daily. Changing game modes is right out.Fanatic Edition is an experimental Cube 2: Sauerbraten client modification, developed by Fanatic members, available for Windows and Linux and licensed under the zlib/libpng license. Please also refrain from loading new maps, or even starting a vote to load a new map. You can also save the map on your machine by going to the escape menu, then the editing menu, the mapop tab, then the savemap box and typing a name. And once you decide to leave, even if other people are still on the server, BE SURE TO "/sendmap" OR ALL YOUR WORK WILL BE ERASED. So, to summarize: to join, start the game, go to multiplayer, set yourself a name, then hit the `/~ key, type "connect 64.234.4.72 0 toadyone", hit enter, you'll be in tiny flat boring Limbo, and either shout at somebody (read: ask someone nicely) to send the map ("/sendmap") and then get ("/getmap") it, or get it yourself if nobody's online. Why this cannot be automated is completely beyond me. But to get the most current map upon joining the server, someone already on the server has to type "/sendmap" and then the person joining has to type "/getmap" or else they'll get a dated version of the map from the last time someone sent it. For someone to -get- the map from the server, he/she must type "/getmap". In order for the map to be updated on the -server-, someone has to type "/sendmap". KING OF THE EDITS: Okay, now I'm starting to think that Sauerbraten's just a taaad underdeveloped. Also it doesn't work when someone without the map isn't there. At the moment, it seems like the only way to do it might be to have someone on the server type "/sendmap" and have everyone joining type "/getmap" but that's a pain. MORE EDIT: Also, there seems to be an issue with people not loading the map from the server automatically. Right now I have it set to a blank Bay 12 map, and I'd like to keep it that way, if it's alright. It may be that occasionally people (myself included) play around and change the game mode and map. There's just nobody on the server or at least, that's how it -should- be.ĮDIT: Hrm. ![]()
